The main building has a sanctuary on the ground floor, the date of construction of which is unknown, and the hermit's dwelling on the first floor (now a private flat). The southern wall of the building is built into the rock. A chapel is carved into the wall, housing a statue of Saint Magdalene, who gave her name to the surrounding area.
A few years ago, Notre Dame de Vie was bought and restored by the association of hermitages of Argelès which ensures its durability.
