Argelès-sur-mer - the green resort - boasts over 8,000 hundred-year-old pine trees, among which 2,000 are found in the pine forest. It was in 1854, on the initiative of the town council that a 12-ha pine forest was planted on the seafront. More than 160 years later, the pine forest is still the greenbelt of Argelès-sur-mer and symbol of the resort. Both the inhabitants of Argelès and tourists enjoy strolling around in it or having a picnic.
